Almost by accident I discovered the following: "Look" magazine, Nov. 30, 1954: "That happened in 1938 while he was testing a plane he remembers as 'a homemade collection of nuts and bolts flying in formation.'" "Saturday Evening Post," Apr. 3, 1955: "Compressor surge is something the pilot can’t do much about except take off power and pray....You are strictly a batch of bolts flying in formation in about two tenths of a second."
