Singers! You're invited to take part in this special project before Sept. 30, 2023 - "New Audiences for Old Songs" being co-hosted by Colleen Cleveland and Dave Ruch. The “New Audiences for Old Songs” project is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. From the website: "The “New Audiences for Old Songs” project aims to expand awareness for – and enjoyment of – a rare and important collection of folk songs and traditional ballads from the Adirondack region of New York State; the kind of “self-made” music sung by everyday people and passed down through the generations in earlier days." The Cleveland Family have sung these songs for generations, and most notably Sarah Cleveland (Colleen's grandmother) was recorded by folk song collectors in the 1950s and 60s. At the website link below you can listen to 75 of the recordings - many of which have music/lyric sheets) and select a song you'd like to perform for the project, submit your recording to the project by Sept. 30, 2023, and it will be put on YouTube as part of the project collection.
