The Berkshire Eagle published an update this week, having attended a zoning board meeting and hearing for local residents and officials. This renovation is getting started on a much better footing than in the decade of the 2010's. The focus will be on historic preservation and on being on good terms with the locals, as the Elm Court Estates are on a residential road. The renovated property is to be called Vanderbilt Berkshire something, I think the final word is Estates. The rooms that can be salvaged will be used for hospitality, and it may be possible to build additional hotel rooms. But this is a project for the long haul; I did not read of any date by which they expect the renovation to end. The important thing at this point is that the renovators/owners are doing their best not to alienate their neighbors in particular and the town in general.
