Starmer is a safe pair of hands, but TBH his rise to N? 10 will be driven by the vacuum left by the current incumbents. And we do need a safe pair of hands right now.

John Major was a good chairman apparently. And if you followed the Leveson Inquiry it showed he lost his election because he refused to be "quid pro quo"'d by Merdoch. Say what you like about his politics, but the man had some integrity. (not that it will stop the carping, driven purely by politics). He also stood up against Thatcher and won one General Election.
