Only saw him perform live once, and that was by accident: I had booked to see Sharon Shannon and her band, and it turned out that Shane and his band was the “support”! (Not advertised before attending!) It must be about 15 years ago in Edinburgh, in what used to be the Caley Picture House on Lothian Road, now a Wetherspoons pub. He also had a diagnosis of viral encephalitis latterly, which probably hastened his demise.
