Ry Cooder changed a few words and made it 'bluesy' and copyrighted it in his own name. Then Bobby Bare changed the melody again, using the Ry Cooder lyrics (credited the song to Ry Cooder) and recorded it in his 1975 Hard Time Hungry's album.
