Refreshing this thread because an earlier post actually mentions
the periodical I had in mind:
the BBC Music Magazine.

I don't subscribe, but a good friend does, and he passes the issues on to me
when he is finished reading them.

Both of us are classical music specialists.
Time was when there were many US magazines catering to classical music somehow,
even if they were mostly about collecting recordings.
Every one of them that I recall, is gone.

So here we are in the US, subscribing to a UK periodical
in order to read about what is essentially a European tradition, classical music,
with occasional mention of practitioners in the US. Sign of the times, I suppose.
