On 15 August 1960 Britain’s first motorway restaurant was opened on the M1 at Newport Pagnell. Decameron, formed in 1968 in Cheltenham by Johnny Coppin and Dave Bell, had a Motorway Song with a chorus based on the motorway sign; A petrol pump A knife and fork A cup of tea And a P I don't think that they ever recorded it.
