The version in the Lawson collection, Poetical Works, differs in a few places. E.g., 1st stanza, 2nd line, instead of "In the days before the bushman was a dull an' heartless drudge," has "(Just two pubs beside a racecourse in a wilderness of sludge)," and 2nd stanza, line 3, instead of "And I think it's very doubtful if the stomach-troubled dreamer" has "But I think it's very doubtful if a Banshee-haunted dreamer".
