Very sorry to hear this. He was part of the group who really altered my popular music preferences at the time they first emerged.
Garth Hudson, as many have mentioned, was large part of that sound.
I have it in mind that I once read that Robbie Robertson said that sometimes Garth Hudson was "the only adult in the room."
