I seem to have not mentioned above that I actually heard Si Kahn lead "Freshwater Whaling/Superior Sperm" one foggy morning at the Wheatland Folk Festival in Michigan back in the 1970s. The image of the whalers rowing out to the horizon to set their whale decoys somehow lodged in my brain and I eventually had to learn the entire song, and add a bit to it in the process.
