My grandmother (originally a Childress, but now a Naugle) said that their family (either her mother Childress or her husband’s - my grandfather’s- mother used to sing these lyrics around the home place. Whippoorwill, whippoorwill, There’s one thing I want to know: Why do they whip poor Willy so? Whippoorwill, whippoorwill. Sounds like this little tid bit belongs here… would love to see this collection along with others put up somewhere real nice and orderly like for folks to see and get into… Maybe a nice likely song book with all these is well over due!
