I've come to love this song. I sang it on a Mudcat Singaround, and I've sung it for friends, who listened attentively. In time I thought that such a short song should not simply repeat "The breezes play; the branches sway.." so I composed a new part 2B. The dry winds blow; the creek is low; that's where the barred owl flies. Hi hee deh low dee it's a prairie lullaby. ======================== The first time I heard Don Edwards singing it, I didn't like his accent. But as I listened over and over, transcribing the tune, I began to understand that he was bending the notes, cuddling the syllables, and I liked it more and more. Right now I'm out of town, but I'll try to post the chords in a few days.
