Thread Creep: I am just now reading the late Pat Conroy, whose nonfiction book The Water Is Wide is about teaching Gullah children on a barrier island off of South Carolina. Conroy got many letters about the book, especially after it was made into a Hollywood film. He got used to seeing the title turned into a mondegreen. He writes that his favorite was, The Water Is Wet.
