I love the cooing of mourning doves, a summer sound in Ontario. The definitive spring sound is the loud ratchet noise that redwing blackbirds make when they stake out their territory. A certain cock blackbird in my neighbourhood has earned the name "Dive-Bomber Dave" for his efforts to defend the approaches to his tree.
