Garry was a loyal friend, a steadfast shantyman, and he touched the lives of countless people up and down this nation with his easy smile and his clear, rousing voice.

Garry was a wonderful singer, a lovely man and a writer of some very fine songs (Fifty Years a Sailor) as well as some very silly ones (Bound for Transylvania and his Mike Waterson parody, Nicking Cod from the Freezers in Iceland). He'll be badly missed around the London scene and shanty festivals.
