Hmmm. Has anyone noticed that the less you get paid the harder you have to work and the worse you get treated. Not an absolute rule, but generally my experience. I find the money is fairly accidental. After years of making nothing at all out of folk music, someone decides to invent Irish theme bars and all of a sudden I've got a four piece band, an agent and lots of gigs playing the same songs no one wanted to pay for during the last twenty-odd years.

What I am now waiting for is English theme bars so I can make money out of the rest of my repertoire.

If you sing and make money, that's fine. If you sing to make money, you probably won't and you certainly won't enjoy life - and what else is life for?
