I suspect that the continuing campaign of dumbing down its programmes by increasing the percentage of 'playlist' musical crap is at the root of this. Such a policy may be deliberate from the BBC but all this mindless pop music and inane jingles polluting our stations nowadays have to be paid for. So the BBC have decimated its foreign services to balance the books- simple
