I was at a session the other day...don't go to so many these days.... and the best tunes I played on the fiddle that day were actually the pipe marches.

Maybe I'm getting old but I can only take so much of some of the newer fancy fiddle tunes which seem to just go "round and round" and end up going nowhere.

I prefer a clear structure whether it be a march, strathspey, reel, jig or whatever. That's regardless of whether it's Scottish, Irish, Shetland, Scandinavian or whatever. I like them all.

As I say, I'm maybe getting old.
