The words of Joe Bowers are not remembered today but the tune is still sung on other songs like I'm A Good Old Rebel that was written in the 1870s. One other song that has a similar tune to it was Sam Bass a murder ballad about a cowboy who was killed by a rebel man many other war ballads that use similar tunes to Joe Bowers from other countries like Britain have had songs related in to the same tune of the 3 lesser remembered songs from the USA.
