The fact that players like John Hurt and Bert Jansch tended to just play whatever box was to hand suggests they sounded good on any guitar. Whilst the likes of Eddie Lang, Robert Johnson and Django Rheinhardt tend to be associated with a particular model, I suspect they too would have still sounded as good whatever guitar they picked up.
