"East Neuk Misfortune"   

I chased a dream all day, watching it fly in the air
I chased it clean away, and I can’t find it anywhere
I never saw one familiar face
And I’m wondering just what’s wrong with this place

I wandered into the East, on early closing day
Looking for the ones, who decided that they would stay                
All of my friends should be here soon
But I’m tired of travelling and my piano’s out of tune

I don’t know why I’m here or what I expect to find
Maybe I’m looking for, something I might have left behind

Standing on the main dock, taking in the view of the bay
Watching where the river flows, and the sea takes it away
Watching a fisherman casting his line
And the Paper Mill men working out their time

I think I’ll have to go and write her a letter
Or maybe I’ll telephone, although yesterday would have been a whole lot better
