I once heard Peggy Seegar being interviewed on the (BBC) radio. She said that she once phoned Ewan McColl in 1952 and said she needed a new song to perform that evening. He wrote a song while they were talking on the phone and she wrote down the words and performed it that night. The song was "The first time ever I saw your face" Ewan McColl's real name of course was James Miller.. does anyone know how he was called at home?... when did he become "Ewan McColl"?
