Alex.... obviously, ignorance rules in this persons life... if it didn't, and they had any understanding of the field of music therapy, what it entails, and the proven medical results from it's usage, they wouldn't be able to offer the same jibberish. I often find with people of this attitude, to ignore is the best result, because they are unwilling to be taught any different. I someone is willing to learn and understand the value of something like music therapy, then i am more than willing to share my experiences. I can do this with confidence, because i have spent 10 years working as one. This is a field where we are recognized as professionals in the health care industry. There are documented results of interactions, some long-term, some short-term, some life changing. Like any therapy, it depends on the individual, the therapist and the circumstance.
I have a poster in my music room that reads : " Music, speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul"
music therapy is that and so much more, and it is a valued part of our health care system........
