I'm with harpgirl - I have no bad connotations with Newfie - but then, I hate it when I'm called Scotch rather than Scottish. In my heart I know it doesn't matter as such, it just shows a level of ignorance - it it the same feeling for you? If so, never again will I call a Newfoundlander a "Newfie"! Not been to Newfoundland yet, though like Harpgirl, I've read Shipping News. I've been to Nova Scotia - and love it -though maybe that's "close but no cigar" as far as your concerned?! Cheers, Mo
