GUEST,willie-o Tips for Memorizing Songs (40) RE: BS: Tips for Memorizing Songs 07 Apr 01

ain't no time in the shower if you are a water conserver. Learning a song takes a lot longer than five minutes.

My brief points, mostly made previously:

  1. type out the lyrics. save a file. you'll need to print it more than once.
  2. avoid mind altering substances.
  3. be about fifteen years younger than I am now.
  4. understand the plot of the song.
  5. if necessary, memorize keywords for each line--this helps if the song is not linear in nature.
  6. give yourself plenty of time to learn it.
  7. remember the part about mind-altering substances when its time to perform...
  8. if you need a cheat sheat performing, write out the key words in big markerletters, put the sheet on the floor unless its a music-stand kind of scene...a lyric sheet is OK if you're not clutching it or squinting at it...
