Slides are 12/8. Jigs are 6/8 Crudely, a slide sounds like a very busy jig, with the stress on the first beat of the bar. You need a Kerryman to explain why! Off the top of my head (as a singer rather than player/dancer), I think Merrily Kiss the Quaker is a slip jig - 9/8? Regards
