Elton Hayes used to be the regular troubadour on a BBC television programme called 'Children's Caravan'. The van would arrive, the side opened down to form a stage, and a variety of people did bits and pieces, including Elton Hayes, who was well-known for his version of Edward Lear's 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. He accompanied himself on his guitar.
Shirley Abicair's greatest hit must have been 'Little Boy Fishing off a Wooden Pier' (come, fish, bite, fish, swim along here). She used to sit there playing a zither to accompany herself.
Aah, memories, memories!
Slaynt diu ooilley,
