You might check out the "Foxfire" series of books, edited by Elliot Wigginton and published by Anchor. It's a collection of how-to articles on all sorts of crafts, interviews and down-home wisdom collected from first-hand sources in the Appalachians. Many volumes and I'm pretty sure that one of them has instructions for making your own limberjack. (I can attest with certainty that you'll find detailed instructions on making song-bows and whimmydiddles...) The books are a wonderful and entertaining resource, even if you never do anything more with them than read'em. Good luck
