'Catters...

The 2002 North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance annual conference will be here in Jacksonville, Florida, February 21-24, 2002. I have the distinct (or dubious) honor of being the Chairperson of the Local Coordinating Committee...because of the late re-location of the event to Jacksonville we do not have the usual couple of years to plan local events and raise money for the same...however, we do have several performance opportunities planned...and I would like to invite those Mudcatters who are thinking about heading this way next winter to consider applying...the opportunities are: 1) A couple (read 2 or 3) slots on Wednesday evening the 20th at our "kick-off" concert. Probably half hour sets (for pay) at the beautiful 1,800 seat Florida Theatre. Submitters should contribute something to the theme "southern exposure" (musically, please, not anatomically). 2) ten to fifteen educational sessions which should be about 15 minutes in length and will be repeated up to four times for different groups of local school students. We are targeting underserved schools/neighborhoods in an effort to expose the young uns to our wonderful world. If you think you might be interested, please drop me a PM and we'll connect for further details...but do it quickly as we're running on a very short schedule -- I need sumbissions by August 1st...

If you don't perform, or can't submit, just wish us luck...we could use it.

Thanks!
