Go to a piano and play six octaves, then put on various Mariah Carey albums. Her range is about three octaves, including her colorotura soprano. She does not sing alto, tenor or bass. I always thought that her music sounded lightweight, as if she is singing back-up without a lead melody. Not surprising, considering her start.
