I remember Gill Burns from the early 80's when she played the Glasgow folk clubs whilst touring. She was the best female guitar player I had heard at that point, and I've yet to hear many better, male or female.
Gill came from Liverpool. The only recordings I am aware of are as follows -
Women's Guitar Workshop (5 tracks)- Kicking Mule SNKF149 (1978)
Aloan at Last - Nosuch GEB 8751 (Own label - Number is Gill's DOB) 1980
Skates / Bananas - Nosuch GEBS 8752 (single) 1982.
The guitar workshop features trad tunes, Aloan trad song, trad tunes & three self penned songs, and the single two of her own songs.
It seems to me that I do remember somebody with an extra machine head coming out of the top, (an adaption, not luthier made), but don't know if it was Gill.
hope this helps,
love, john.
