I've been thinking about a song that seemed to be popular for a while in Irish music circles. I base this on the fact that at least two acts at the 1987 Glen Echo Irish Folk Festival performed the song. The song is about Saint Brendan, but it is not Jimmie Driftwood's "Saint Brendan's Fair Isle" (which Mick Moloney is fond of performing.) This song is sung in jig (6/8) rhythm, and as I recall the first tow lines of the chorus go:
