I was on my way to Strawberry yesterday, tapes playing and me singing along with Tim and Molly O'Brian and others, all excited about the weekend. When I reached a point in the SIerra where there is one of those eight mile long grades with a sign, "Turn off your air conditioner", I was a little concerned because my automobile engine heat indicator needle had been riding a bit high. About two miles into the climb, the needle topped out. I pulled off to the side of the road and let the engine cool down before I turned around for home blowing off a weekend of good music with friends and a $130 ticket as well as a lot of concert-going. By nightfall, I was home again after 350 miles of driving to nowhere. As they say - Bummer.
"Anyone heading for Strawberry?" Not me, as it turns out.
