The first names that sprang to mind were Woody Guthrie & Alan Lomax. That being said, I have to agree with all the others who have argued that there isn't any ONE most significant "folkie". After my first gut reaction, I thought of so many others; some have even been mentioned. I admit to being influenced by American "folkies", so in addition to Wooody & Alan and all the rest... Doc Watson - just for being Doc Watson Rev. Gary Davis - preaching, singing, playing... ya gotta love it!!! Dave T
