I'm up to my neck in festival preparations, but I thought I'd just drop by here to let folks know:

You will recall Dustin Camp, who was given probation for running over and killing Brian Deneke -- on purpose. Having been taught all his life that there are no consequences for his behavior, he managed last month to get himself arrested for violating his probation in a big way.

A few minutes ago, a district judge sentenced him to 8 years in prison. Since he's not the best behaved boy on earth anyway, there's not much chance he'll get out early.

It doesn't compensate for what he did, or even come near the measure of what some here think he deserves from the justice system, but it's a start, in my mind, to some measure of justice. I have faith that Camp will manage to find himself in legal trouble again sometime in 2009.

His father and grandfather are also under indictment for trying to help him avoid arrest and for obstruction of justice.
