I used to take a keen interest in racing but I was cured of it by events one day at Sedgefield. A horse I had been waiting for for some time was finally put into a race it could win and I lumped on at 7/1. As you probably know Sedgefield used to be the only track where there was no escape route for fallers. My horse duly came through to win its race but 10 yards from the post 2 earlier fallers came round the track in the wrong direction and cannoned into my fella and knocked the jockey off! It took me a long time to take much interest in betting after that. Be warned, Ian M.
