Trying to find the music to a poem written in 1900 in honor of Lincoln's birthday. Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Written by James Weldon Johnson Music by J. Roasmond Johnson Is said to have been the national anthem from African-Americas. Lift ev'ry voice and sing, Till earth and heavan ring, Ring with the harmoniesof Liberty, Let our rejoicing rise High as the list'ning skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past hast taught us Sing a song full of hope that the present has brought us Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, Let us march on till victory is won. 1st of 4 verses. My students are memorizing poem for this month, would really like the notes. Odean Pope Sax. choir has a song with same title. Maybe someone knows where I can find someone else who performs song.
