At the South Country Fair music festival in Fort MacLeod, Alberta this summer, a nighttime storm rolled in across the foothills. Thunder, lightning the whole deal. This was a weekend event where people arrived a week early to get a campsite, and the campground was packed with representatives from a range of demographic groups.
They were between acts on the (outdoor) stage, and as the lightning intensified, the MC announced a special impromptu drum circle "over there in the open field to the right of the stage, by the metal swing set."
