A buckdance is a type of traditional dancing done in the Appalachians. Its sort of like clog dancing but is usually done by one person. Bill Monroe used to buckdance on stage during his shows. BTW, "Uncle John's Band" was Jerry Garcia's tribute to the New Lost City Ramblers. Uncle John referred to John Cohen.
