Hi! I just found this site. I have been in a quandry for a long time, bevause I have been trying to find the Czech version, & source of a song by Smetana, which I found many years ago, in translation, in The Penguin Book of Accompanied Songs. the book has not only been out of print for years, but gave no source for the song. The words are beautiful. They go like this: All music has such silver ways When it is sung with pleasure. Through it Joy can be lifted up And given its true measure. Some live without such joy Their days in trivial work all wasted; But even worse the fate of those Whose days bereft of music. Yet never should their hearts despair For song their days can lighten . Those who can sing are given joy; Song is the key of heaven. Song is the key of heaven. Can someone help me with this? Please e-mail me privately. I will be very grateful. I also plan to pass this site along to the VOCALIST, of which I'm a member. I think it is a very beneficial source for us. Diane Schmolka
