Thanks for the pointers. I grew up in Connecticut, where this song was played on WTIC-AM by the morning DJ Bob Steele.

Of course Bob Steele retired in the early 80s and the radio station went to an all news format, but the song still lingers in my head. Interestingly enough when I called my Dad and said "Do you remember that song Bob Steele used to play in the morning?" my dad immediately replied "Oh yeah. The buffalo song. "
