buildings in the 70s were not designed to withstand the force of a plane but in 1944 a military plane crashed in tempire state building with little or no damage to that building because the building was constructed to the NYC code I have worked in many in NYC buildings for 50 yrs as a stemfitter and i can say NOT all buildings are created equea in days gone by beams and colums were encased in concrete now merely sprayed with asbestos and put over rusty steel that has been sitting around for months ron
