Come home from Winnipeg Folk Fest a few years back, having just nicely broken in my handbuilt guitar, and informs herself that I bought a guitar @ Folk Fest. I let that sink in for a couple of milliseconds, then headed off the tirade by showing it ~ a little 3" lapel pin from Homemade Village, made by a luthier from actual tonewood offcuts and scraps. The look on herself's face for those milliseconds, though, was priceless. The bills are harder than ever to secrete, with online access to accounts. The instrument slush fund is my tactic, and that of most of my pickin' buddies. Anything we get from a gig ~ including gas money ~ goes into the instrument fund.
