You can change the application that is the default for any file type you choose. For example, to assign a default application for MIDI files:

  1. Right-click on your “My Computer” icon.
  2. Select “Explore” from the context menu. The Folder dialog will pop up.
  3. Click on the tab labeled “File Types.”
  4. Scroll down and select (click once) the type labeled “MIDI Sequence.”
  5. Click on the Edit button. The “Edit File Type” dialog will pop up.
  6. Select the word “Play” in the list box.
  7. Click the Edit button. The “Edit action” dialog will pop up.
  8. Click the “Browse” button to select the application you would like as the default for MIDI.
  9. Click OK, Close, Close. You have now set the default application for files of type .mid.
