Its written in portuguese and give me a few days and Ill have the words for you ( with translation). O Cangaceiro was refilmed a few years ago and the new version is fairly faithful to the b/w version though not as atmospheric. It was loosely based on the life and times of Lampiao, a bandit that roamed the mountains and deserts of the interior here in the Notheast of brazil. He was set up as a kind of Robin Hood figure, but in reality he was a thug and a bully that evaded the law because he had the protection of some of the big ranchers here. ( He was in fact my wifes great uncle so I do actually know what Im on about.) If you want to see a nice satire of Lampiao, search out a movie called Auto de Comparecida, a recent movie that is extremely faithful to life here in the interior of the Northeast and a very funny movie to boot. Aslo check out the music of Luiz Gonzaga O Rei do Baiao. ( For some reason my punctuation keys arent working...damn!!)
