Among the more advanced states of MIAS is GAS, or Guitar Acquisition Syndrome...in states where much bluegrass is played, one can also suffer from MAS, or Mandolin Acquisition Syndrome. Funny, but one almost never sees the Banjo subsect of this insidious disease.

There is no known cure. Frequent massaging of affected areas with raw billets of quartersawn tonewood is the homeopathic treatment of choice, but the allopaths maintain that the only cure is to indulge in the sickness itself.
