What the others said, plus most uk libraries have music sections with both songboks and 'how to' books. If you do think about professional lessons, best check it's someone who really understands the kinds of music that's of interest, as well someone who can actually teach. All the sessions I go to, most players are happy to give you a few pointers. The only downside is if they've been playing 20/30 years may have forgotten the very basics & blind you wih science. Oh - if he's right handed - don't ask a left-hander to demonstrate anything ( & vice versa). I've tried it - it's just one complication too many. Have fun, Hilary
