The Celtic Bard I'm going to Scotland! (95* d) RE: I'M GOING TO SCOTLAND!! 27 Feb 02

Well I'm not sure what exactly I have started.

Thank you, Zipster. My thoughts exactly.

Willie-O, I didn't get scared off. If you aren't interested in being converted, that's fine. I'm not blind. I know that some people don't want to hear it. I'm happy just to talk to people.

As to converting the heathens, that's not my style or Campus Crusade's style. We're just going to come over and talk to people. If somebody's interested then we'll tell them about Jesus. I don't like to shove stuff down people's throats because I don't like it when people do it to me. That's not what we do. That's not what we're there to do. Jim, we're not going over there to change minds, we're going over to meet people.

However converting the heathens is not the only reason why I'm going or why I wanted to go. I'm of Scotish decent myself and I've always wanted to get back to the homeland. Actually I have a bit of a confession. I'm more excited about being in Scotland than I am in "spreading the Word" although that is important to me.

I'm hoping to get into some of the pubs and listen to some good folk music. I don't think that it'll be a problem with Crusade. Our project leader really doesn't know too much about Scotland and is actually not Scottish himself. When I started talking to him at the info meeting when I applied, he was really excited about my background. My family has a fairly strong sense of Scottish identity. He really liked that and that's probably one of the reason why I got accepted. So hopefully I'll be able to explain to him that pubs aren't all about drinking so that I can get in there and listen to the music.

So yes I have a bunch of money to raise as well as quite of bit of other stuff to accomplish not to mention taking my finals early. But I'm willing to do all that and more if I get a chance to travel to such a beautiful country and meet such friendly people. Plus I get to see the place where my family came from and that's priceless. Can anybody really argue with that?

Wish me luck.

Rebecca <><

P.S. Seems I hit the wrong key. That's $2500 not $3500. Still a lot of money though.
