JVZ Lyr Req: Take Me Back To Colorado (34) Lyr Add: TAKE ME BACK TO COLORADO 27 Mar 99

Well, Kat, Mom and Dad both remembered Shorty, Sally, Sue, and the boys. The radio station was KOA. And here are the lyrics:

Take me back to Colorada,
She's a-beatin' ol' Nevada,
And I'm longin' for them foothills every day.
It's so soothin' in the evenin',
And the ol' gray wolf's a-grievin'
Take me back to Colorada for to stay.

For to stay, for to stay,
Colorado or I'm bustin' right away.
I just like to hear the rattle.
Of the hooves and horns of cattle.
Take me back to Colorada for to stay.

When the north wind gets to howlin'
And the ol' coyote's a-callin'
Then you'll see me sittin' by the fire.
My old dog will be a-growlin',
And you won't catch me a-scowlin',
'Cause we both will know exactly where we are.

Where we are, where we are,
You can bet your boots we're knowin' where we are.
My old dog will be a-scratchin' fleas,
I'll be toastin' my old knees
A sittin' in my cabin by the fire.

I bought a little Ford machine.
And filled it up with gasoline.
I cranked it and the darn thing got away.
Oh, it wouldn't wait 'til I got in,
Now I own a pile of tin,
But every month I walk right up and pay.

Up and pay, up and pay,
So much down and so much every certain day.
Oh, it wouldn't wait 'til I got in,
Now I own a pile of tin,
But every month I walk right up and pay.

That last verse and chorus doesn't seem to go with the rest of the song that well, but it's a good one and that's the way Dad always sang it.

John
